About

We teach the making, not just the pattern.

Caco Crochet teaches amigurumi — small crocheted characters, worked in the round and stuffed — to people who want to make them well and enjoy the making.

Where this started

Caco Amigurumi began in Brazil in 2018, built by Juliana Sanches — Ju — around one stubborn idea: most people give up on crochet not because it is hard, but because they were handed a pattern instead of an explanation.

So she started filming the explanation. The stitch under the hook, where the shape turns, what to do when the count comes out wrong. A community grew around it, mostly by one person telling another.

Caco Crochet is the English-language side of that work, run from Canada.

What we believe

A pattern is a recipe, not a skill.
You should be able to change the ears, lengthen the arms and make the thing you actually pictured. That means learning how the shape is built, not memorising somebody’s rounds.
Slow is allowed.
Nobody is timing you. A project that takes three weekends is still a finished project.
Finishing is most of the craft.
Seams, stuffing, safe eyes, the face. A well-made amigurumi survives being loved, and that is usually what happens to it.

How the lessons work

Video, step by step, on your own schedule, filmed close enough to see the hook enter the stitch. You watch a lesson as many times as you need.

The audio is in Brazilian Portuguese with English subtitles. English dubbing is planned and not yet available — we say this before you buy, not after.

Everything written uses US crochet terminology. If you learned UK terms, the same abbreviations mean different stitches, so it is worth knowing which set you are reading.

The abbreviations you will see most often
MRmagic ring — the adjustable loop every piece starts from
scsingle crochet — the stitch amigurumi is almost entirely made of
incincrease — two stitches worked into one, to widen the round
decdecrease — two stitches closed into one, to narrow it again
BLOback loop only — where a shape gets a crease and sits flat
